Kona is one of those rare places on earth with volcanic, mountainous surroundings and a dramatic yet beautiful coastline; a place that enjoys perfect weather almost every day of the year. Located on the dry but lush and fertile west side of the big island of Hawai’i, Kona is protected by incredible mountains, shielding it from the harsh winds and blowing rain often seen on the east side of the island. In Kona, sunsets are picture perfect, where the days end just as they started; as a peaceful haven where the beautiful beaches beckon and the crystal clear water sooths with its hypnotic rhythm.

Kona

This tropical paradise not only features gorgeous beaches and quiet coves but royal Hawaiian history, where ancient Kings and Queens enjoyed the perfect weather and from where many royal decrees were handed down. The Hulihe’e Palace was a royal vacation house and today it is open for tours. Even hundreds of years ago Kona was recognised as a place of enjoyment and rest. The rich land was also recognised for its fertile characteristics and today it is a large coffee growing region, one that produces rich, robust beans. Getting out and seeing the land is one of the best ways to enjoy Kona. Volcanoes National Park is unlike any national park in the world, where gas and steam can still be seen rising from its center. An excellent place for kayaking and snorkeling is Kealakekua Bay. Not only is this the spot where Captain James Cook first landed but its natural beauty is mesmerizing. In fact just about anywhere you go in Kona is incredible and if you’re an outdoor lover or adventure seeker you will feel right at home here.
